This year’s
edition of the Swahili fashion to be held in Dar-es-salaam for three days from
December, the organizers have announced.
The event’s
business development manager Hamis Omary said that forty designers from within
and outside the country will showcase their collections.

development manager Hamis Omary said that this year’s event is aiming to reach
out to the public to highlight and promote fashion talents “Swahili Fashion week this year is aimed at reaching out to the public to
emphasize and promote talents in the fashion industry, its more about valuing
our own designers and building brands and taking them to a different level year
in out”.
Furthermore being in it’s sixth year, his
company has come up with a theme known as evolution and the young and emerging
designers will be obliged to create ensembles that have grown, it doesn’t have
to be necessarily new but that which be dated with an interesting unique twist
to it.
“We urge the public to support the designing
industry and proudly wear home made products, the local talents need to be
nurtured to evolve them into synonymously globally recognized brand names” he
said.
He also said that this year’s event is sponsored by EATV,
East Africa Radio, Golden Tulip Hotel, National Arts Council (BASATA), and
Ultimate Security, Global outdoors Ltd and other companies and organizations.
