TAYE DIGGS SPLITS FROM IDINA MENZEL AFTER 10 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

A representative for Diggs and Menzel confirms that the couple, who has been married for 10 years, has decided to go their separate ways but will focus on their son.

Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel have decided to separate after 10 years of marriage. Their agents confirmed the spilt for the couple on Wednesday, December 11^th, “Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time. Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time,” their agents said in a statement.

The couple met for the first time when they both started in the original Broadway production of “Rent” in 1995. They tied the Knot in 2003.  Earlier this year, Menzel made an appearance on Glee playing the mother of Lea Michele’s character, she talked about marriage in a recent interview she did with PEOPLE Magazine “ We work at it. I’m not going to glamorize it or glorify it – we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate” She admitted.

In the interview the actress also opened up about the challenges with work commitments which took place in New York while she lived in Los Angeles. “It’s hard trying to make the decision to keep [Walker] in L.A. so he can go to school with his friends. He would be with a babysitter or have to travel to me to New York where I am rehearsing all day – but at least he’s with Mommy. It’s those kind of decisions that torture me all the time,” She said
