TBC TO AIR TWO MORE CHINESE DRAMAS

CULTURAL RELATIONS BETWEEN CHINA AND TANZANIA HAVE BEEN STRENGTHENED WITH WEDNESDAY’S LAUNCH OF TWO CHINESE DRAMAS THAT HAVE BEEN DUBBED IN KISWAHILI

Broadcasting of the two productions are schedule to begin on November 4^th this year, through the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporations (TBC) television channels.

The dramas titled, “ Maisha ya Mama” (Mother’s life) and “ Matumaini ya Baba (Father’s Hope), have used Chinese actors but have mixed Kiswahili voices from local artistes.

The local artists that have made things possible consist of, Mohamed Kaboba, Omary Ahmed, Johari Mayoka, Hadija Chambasi, Abdui Masaida and Hilda Marcela.

After the launch of the dramas yesterday, Prof. Hermans Mwansoko, director of the department of Culture in the ministry of Minister, Youth and Sports, said that they were not only good elements of the relationship between the two countries, but that also for the artistes, who are involved in them.

Prof. Hermans Mwanasoko said, “These dramas have opened a new door of collaboration between Tanzania’s and Chinese artistes and will develop the Kiswahili language further onto international levels”.

Clement Mshana TBC Managing Director spoke of his desire that the dramas have changed from cooperation between the two countries, right from the production stage. Furthermore, he also said that this was the second time for China to produce such dramas.

Mshana said “The first one, “Dodo”, was aired by TBC last year. Then, Chinese artistes did the acting and voices.

He then added, “This second time round they have involved Tanzanian artistes so as to get a better taste of the Swahili conversations”.

Li Xuhuang, the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, applauded the cooperation because it strengthens the culture and friendships of the two countries.

He also said that the dramas will help local people to understand the reality of life in China and promised to give TBC a broadcasting vehicle, to help improve their work.
