Supermodel Naomi Campbell is planning
on launching a modeling and fashion show in Kenya in November with the aim of
promoting local talent.
Campbell who for the past two weeks has
been holidaying in Kenya shared her plans when she paid a courtesy call to
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi on Friday. The first lady held a meeting with the
supermodel, who also vowed to support the first lady’s plan on Maternal,
Newborn and Child Health Care. Naomi will do this by raising funds to buy
mobile clinics to permit people living in marginalize areas access quality
health care. The supermodel added that all the proceeds raised from her
modeling and fashion initiatives in Kenya.
The supermodel is currently on a
charity trip to Africa in a bid to further the work of her “close friend”, late
world leader and former South Africa president, Nelson Mandela, who passed away
in December.
Naomi has previously spoken about the
end of her relationship with Italian tycoon Flavio Briatore, whom together with
his current wife Elizabetta Gregoraci, have been holidaying together with
Campbell in Malindi. At sometime, she told Marie Claire magazine that his
unreasonable expectations ended their union.
“I’m not going to be a trophy if you
expect me to be in the kitchen cooking breakfast in high heels, looking as
though I just stepped out of a fashion magazine, it’s not going to happen”.
