DIVA AWARDS GALA NIGHT ENDS IN STYLE



The event took place at Kigali, Serena Hotel on Friday. Jeanne d’Arc Ingabire Butera won the award for Best Video, whereas female rapper Aisha Uwimana aka Ciney took the award for Best Women Song Award.

Allion Buzindu was acknowledged as an upcoming diva and Pacifique Oda Uzamberumwana aka Paccy received an award for Outstanding Diva Award.

Singer, Maria Yohana was nominated for best traditional folk diva, while Gaby Irene Kamanzi was nominated for best gospel artiste.

Just as she received her award, Ciney said that “I am really happy and this should not only inspire me, but also other women out there. Just like the message I send out in my songs to encourage women to be independent and self-reliant”.

Other women who were awarded consist of Hope Azeda for theatre and acting, Grace Nyinawumuntu in sports category, Giramahoro Georgette in marketing, Christine Murebwayire in business, Colombe Ndituye for fashion and Esther Mbabazi, Rwanda’s first female pilot currently working with Rwandair.

Rwanda’s television entertainment presenter Tijara Kabendera was acknowledged for her hard work in the media, whereas Apostle Alice Mignonne Kabera was voted as society role model.

The event was held up with performances from local artistes
